All writers, artists, poets, musicians, translators, tour guides, foodies–anyone who has something to say– and who lives in the areas surrounding Donosti are welcome to submit to Dispatches from Donosti. The purpose of this online space is to inform/entertain readers about the quirks and quotidians of this most special place, especially now when no one can come visit and we are all working hard to keep spirits up!

Please read the following guidelines as you prepare something to submot:

  1. Readers may or may not be familiar with local terms and customs, so please offer translations or explanations of non-general terms.
  2. Stories/art/poems/ articles/music should be original, and fall into at least one the following categories: coronavirus, humor, food, travel, opinion, culture or art. Please indicate into which category (ies) your submission fits.
  3. For written work, aim for 350– 1500 words. This is a rough guideline so don’t worry if you fall on either side of it. We are looking for anecdotes, stories, essays that illuminate what makes Donosti such a unique place, and particularly right now, stories/art/poetry that reflect how people are coping with lockdown and the pandemic.
  4. Please attach a photo that augments your written work if you have one.
  5. If you are submitting visual work, please include a short description of the work or what moved you to create the work
  6. All photos/pictures should be less than1 MB and a minimum of 250kb. 650kb is optimal.
  7. If it is your first time submitting, please include a short bio, max 150 words. Be sure to include links to your own website/businesses so that when the world opens up again, readers know where to find you.

IMPORTANT: If you don’t see the submit form below, please switch your browser to Chrome. The submit form is glitchy with Explorer and Firefox. Be sure you check all the required fields, and be sure your photos are smaller than 1 MB each.
